PrivateStorage is Coming Soon!

Keep your data private in our cloud.

PrivateStorage is a new secure storage product that will become available in the third quarter of 2021. As firm believers in protection of our customers’ privacy, we will offer a private, secure and end-to-end encrypted solution that aims to minimize the collection of any data related to its users. PrivateStorage implements privacy and security by design, not by policy. We cannot see your data when it is stored by us.

After a few years of working on PrivateStorage, we are excited to announce its upcoming launch. Previously, we operated a similar service, S4, and in doing so learned a lot about how to offer a secure storage product. Since then, we started to develop PrivateStorage with a focus on Privacy by Design. In 2020, we performed additional rounds of user testing and made significant usability improvements to the application, including how PrivateStorage presents its anonymous payment tokens. People use these tokens, zero-knowledge access passes (ZKAPs), to buy ‘storage-time’. This allows us to disconnect the personal data we get when accepting payments, from the service usage data we get as users interact with their data in PrivateStorage.

Another change is the relationship of the parent companies to PrivateStorage. Previously, PrivateStorage was a joint venture between Least Authority and Private Internet Access. We greatly appreciated the help from the PIA co-team in the product testing stage as we investigated improvements to increase the usability of the application. At the end of 2020, we mutually agreed to change our relationship – PrivateStorage is now 100% owned by Least Authority with the possibility of PIA being involved again in the future. This change was made in the best interest of achieving the goal of launching PrivateStorage and offering the world a new type of secure storage product.
